Nearly 2 Months

On September 28, 2018 I summited Katahdin. In reality that does not officially complete my Appalachian Trail Thru-hike… like many hikers do, I skipped a small section of trail in Georgia: A ten mile stretch over Blood Mountain. It’s funny, when you’re starting out, Blood Mountain is intimidating. Your first real mountain when heading northbound on the Appalachian Trail and everyone is fear mongering. I’ll be heading back to Georgia around New Year time to complete that section. Miles and I are planning to hike from Springer Mountain to Neel Gap for a weekend (it took me almost five days the first time!). Hopefully we will have some friends tag along too. So stay tuned for that!

Anyway, in the time since Katahdin a lot has happened. You can read about my last couple of days on trail very soon in my new weekly format trail journals. For now, here’s what’s going on in my life (click on each on to see more about it!):

  • My parents threw me an adorable Summit Party for finishing the AT and lots of friends, family, and blog supporters came out! I want to thank you all again for coming out and supporting me, it means the world!

  • Miles and I moved into a camper trailer together with the help of my parents and some family and friends!

  • I acquired a 2000 Eurovan Winnebago Camper called Terra!

  • I’ve started creating presentations and workshops to bring to schools, both public and private, about backpacking, writing, and mental health.

  • I quit my job at Starbucks and I’ll be using my time to focus on writing, podcasting, and educating.

Stay tuned here and on Instagram to see where this life will take me!
