5 Vanlifers to Binge While You Wait Out The Pandemic

Honestly, I don’t know how you could be bored in quarantine right now! If you have access to the internet, you have access to a wealth of knowledge and entertainment!

Over the past two weeks, I’ve started scaling up to full-time freelance, binged so much Youtube content, found yoga and workout videos online, made friends via Instagram, socialized on Zoom, read two whole books, and I’ve even started learning some new skills with Masterclass’s BOGO deal (check it out, I’m so obsessed). How could I possibly be bored?

Today, I want to share with you one of my favorite ways to pass the time: binging adventure content on Youtube. Before I hiked the AT, I binged all the thruhiking videos I could find. Now that I’m prepping for vanlife, I’ve been devouring vanlifer’s vlogs. Honestly, I have been for the past 5 years. Couples are definitely the most entertaining and have a serious advantage in this niche vlog world.

I’m loyal to a few seriously incredible vanlife couples. These guys have all come so far in the past 3-5 years in their confidence, video editing skills, and epicness of their adventures. Serious inspo.

Here’s my 5 fave vanlife couples:

1.Eamon & Bec

Eamon & Bec are both wholesome and beautiful. They’re HUSTLERs who started their own chai tea company (Chai Wala Chai) after traveling the world out of backpacks. Loyalists will remember their early backpacking adventures and Eamon’s adorable proposal in Africa. They made a mildly impulsive decision to get a van and convert it into their home and haven’t turned back ever since. Their adventures feature growth, entrepreneurship, van builds and remodels, friends, and beautiful places. They know how to get those epic drone shots without being cheesy. They made the BEST vegan cookbook with super easy, cheap, and quick meals to make in or out of a van! Plus, their chai is actually REALLY good. It took me almost 2 years of binging a few times a week to get caught up to their current adventures and I’m not embarrassed to admit that I went back and watched every single video they’ve made!

2. The Matneys

The Matneys are my fave millennials. Their Youtube journey began as Minimal Millenials and their true fans won’t ever let ‘em forget it! They’re the adorable couple who channels the vanilfe version of #hikertrash. They’re not afraid to talk about their messy catch-all junk-drawer cabinets, lack of showers, or bug problems that you know all vanlifers are actually facing. Watching them grow has been the coolest. They also have a money management course to show you how they afford vanlife as two millennials on a tight budget. I bought it and actually found it SUPER helpful. Check them out for videos on vanlife from Canada all the way down to Argentina (where they are currently stuck in quarantine and producing music covers every single day), daily vlogs from the majority of their adventures, vanlife friendships, and their adventures in remodeling. I think their most memorable videos are their Hello Mexico series. If you’re a millennial considering vanlife for traveling the world (or just the US), definitely give them a follow:

3. Trent & Allie

Trent and Allie started out vlogging about their mountain bike adventures. When they sold their first van and started building out a second one, their channel really started to take off. They’ve traveled from the US all the way down to Argentina. They’ve had to abandon their van in Argentina and head back to the US for COVID-19, but they’re still vlogging! Plus, they’ve been posting videos for years and you can go back and binge all of their crazy adventures. They’re a wholesome couple who feature specialty coffee, mountain biking, and their cute dog (Frank) in their videos. They also have a van build guide and a van meals cookbook plus a forum for vanbuild questions! Check them out for those couples goals:

4. Wild We Roam

Wild We Roam is the sweetest couple (Dana & Lou) who make beautiful videos of their adventures outside the US in their old van Ody (who they recently sold) and more recently a DOPE Mercedes G-Wagon that I am DROOLING over! They’ve done videos about their travels around the world in and out of a van, lifestyle challenges, minimalism, overlanding, van build videos, sketching, and so much more. They recently released a book called Live Creatively that will totally jump start your creativity. They also offer a FREE ebook about living with less. This dynamic duo will give you the good feels and inspiration to play around with improving your own life:

5. Bound For Nowhere

Bound For Nowhere is a down to earth couple (Mak & Owen) who aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty. They started out in a Westy and remodeled a Toyota Sunrader shortly after they sold their Westy. They decided it wasn’t for them and moved into the back of a Toyota Tacoma instead! Later, they got a 4x4 Four Wheel Camper mounted on the back of a Toyota Tundra. They now have their adventure cat, Luna along for the ride and I am LIVING for her cameos. BFN has a sense of humor, amazingly helpful tips and tricks, full build videos, and adventures galore. Check them out if you’re more interested in full-time overlanding:

I hope y’all enjoy these inspiring and beautiful stories. Maybe next week I’ll post some cool solo female vanlifers! Binge ‘em while you work on your house, de-stress with your adult coloring book, or while you munch down some popcorn. They always make me feel less lonely when I’m eating dinner alone, too.
